Lazy lazy blogger girl!

Still maintaining...which I think is better than most people can say coming out of the holidays, so I'll take it and be happy about it, dammit! ;-) I'm also about 10-15 pounds less than I was last year at this time (pre-birthday-ski-trip)...and I feel it in my ski clothes, yay!! :-)

I'm having some concerns about my yoga classes with the primary teacher (and owner) at my new studio. It seems that I have thumb and knee issues after her classes and not so much after the other teachers' classes. I haven't quite figured out why this is because all of the teachers at the new place have similar (although not identical) styles. It makes me really sad and worried but, over the next few weeks when I will be away from the studio for the ski trip, I will be thinking long and hard about what it is about HER classes that do this to me...so I don't have to stop taking them (I love her) but can modify so I don't get hurt. I have some ideas already...

Of course, work pre-vacation is ramping up so I'm very busy this week...isn't that always how it happens? ;-)

Today is DB's birthday. I am thanking the Universe for the great gift that he is to my/the world. Yay!!! Tonight we're having some people over to play music in the new studio (we did that last Saturday night and people stayed until 3:30...later even than on New Year's Eve!), eat pizza and (my homemade, and hopefully good, carrot cake). Those are the foods he wanted, people...and the pizza is SALAD pizza so... ;-)

We leave after work Friday night for our week in Mammoth...I can't wait! PD2 and her family are coming up to stay with us for about 4 days and our 6-year-old granddaughter will be getting on skis for the first time! I know she will do GREAT...she will probably be on the intermediate slopes on the second day...while I'm on the beginner slopes still after 5 years! ;-)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DB...thank you for being born. I love you.

Not blogging, but not gaining

Work has finally picked back up so I don't have much time to blog during the week.

We didn't go skiing last weekend...it was too much for me to pull together on short notice and I really needed a weekend (a long one at that!) at home to rest and catch up on things.

The prior weekend was actually pretty horrible -- we had a bad falling-out with our ski friends (couple who is/was long-time friends with DB). We won't be seeing them again. Very sad, but they were nuts. The whole incident really hurt my feelings (I guess they never really liked ME) so I'm not going to rehash it here. But it sucked.

My ski boots also really hurt me after just one run so I had to rent. I have to sell my current boots and DB bought me some more last weekend for my upcoming birthday. The ones I had just did not fit the shape of my foot and, as some of you might remember, I had a numb foot for a couple months after our ski week last year. It's not entirely better and I don't want it to get worse or permanent! We found a great ski shop with an amazing boot fitter -- we were with him for two hours on Saturday and I feel confident that I now have the right boots. Yay!

I also bought DB some skis on ebay for his birthday. Now we are all set for our ski week (leaving January 29)!!

Saw Avatar this weekend. I didn't think I was going to like it, but I LOVED it. That's all I'll say...don't want to build up or spoil for any of you who haven't seen it (has anyone not seen it?!).

We also spent time hanging out with friends and some really good "us" time. It was great not to have to do too much. DB said to me this morning "This little vacation weekend has been so nice...I don't want you to go back to work!" :-)

We may go ski locally one day this weekend...or not. We'll see. I've got a lot to do before we go away and DB's birthday is next week (we'll be having people over to play in his almost-completed studio, I'll be baking a cake, etc.)

I only went to yoga once this weekend...my thumb/wrist/arm on the right side is really hurting me and it's hard to practice with no down dogs or planks! I've been doing it in dolphin pose, but that's difficult for some parts of the flow.

Weight is stable. Going down a little bit each week. I might even get to a new low just in time for vacation... ;-)

Good news for me

Not that this will make me stop trying to lose weight, but...

May be skiing again this weekend...will update on last weekend when I can (including, hopefully, posting a video of me -- the dorkiest skier of all time). ;-)

Go buy this book RIGHT NOW!

Angry Fat Girls by Frances Kuffel -- get it!!

I got it on my Kindle last night, started it and am loving it. If you read me, I think you will love it too. I am so happy that this will be the first full book I read on my Kindle -- that needed to be a momentous book that I'll never forget! :-)

Not as fun news: I was NOT a good girl over the New Year holiday. I gained more in those days than over Christmas. Why? I think it's for a few reasons:

- Christmas is a sugar holiday. New Year's is a salty holiday. We all know what I like best.
- We hosted New Year's at our house = leftovers.
- Christmas weekend we ran hither, thither and yon. This weekend, we spent one whole day in bed and the rest just RESTing. (Well, we did do that one yoga class on Saturday...)

So, I'm back in the losing mode again. Still maintaining the weight lost from the summer. Getting geared up to go LOWER on the scale. Getting strict again with The Macro like I said I would in my New Year's Eve post.

We are going skiing this coming weekend for the first time this season and I can't wait. I pick up my skis (that I bought on ebay for $60 and paid $50 more to get tuned and adjusted -- great deal!) tonight from the store where they are getting tuned. We leave Friday afternoon. I am even more excited because I tried on some ski pants that I bought YEARS ago (also on ebay) that were always too small and now they fit!!! I am excited to try them out this weekend. ;-)

Yoga is still going great...although the practice last night was very knee-intensive and mine are both sore today. DB has been with me to two classes already and he actually bought a pass for himself last night! I love having his energy on the mat next to me. :-)
